Achieving lasting comfort is our mission.

Stretching technology is an essential technology for supporting comfort in daily living.
SEKISUI SEIKEI utilizes the excellent durability, water resistance, chemical resistance, and plasticity of synthetic resin to manufacture products such as tape and rope.
We also use specialty processing on finished rope to produce MIGUSA functional resin tatami mats that are superior to natural tatami mats

What is stretching molding?

Stretching molding is a method for molding thermoplastic resin in which plastic sheets are stretched while heated to utilize the property of synthetic resins that increases their strength in the tensile direction.

Features of stretching molding

Can create thin, strong film. Helps reduce both cost and environmental impacts through speedy production of high quality products.

  • High strength

Stretching the plastic aligns the molecular orientation and increases the strength.

  • Cost reduction

Efficient use of materials helps reduce waste and lower the cost.

  • Production of diverse products

Can manufacture products in various shapes and for various applications.

Stretching molding process

Stretching molding is a series of processes in which a film or sheet created by inflation molding or extrusion molding is stretched in the longitudinal and transverse directions.

  • 01Material preparation

Select the base plastic for the application and mix in additives as needed.

  • 02Extrusion, inflation

Extrude the heated molten plastic into sheet film or tubes.

  • 03Stretching

Mechanically stretch the slitted sheet film product.
This process increases the mechanical properties of the film.
・ When stretched only in the machine direction, it is called uniaxial stretching.
・ When also stretched in the transverse direction, it is called biaxial stretching

  • 04Thermal treatment (annealing)

hermally treat the stretched film or sheet at a constant temperature to relieve the internal stress.
    This stabilizes the product dimensions.

  • 05Finishing

    Process the surface as needed.

  • 06Winding

Wind the product with a winder.

Technology to achieve both comfort and convenience

Stretching technology that has proven results in packaging materials such as tape and rope has been attracting attention in recent years for its use in flooring products such as tatami mats. Pursuit of comfort and convenience through ingenuity has resulted in the development of outstanding products.
